Have you ever tried to bite into a genetically modified tomato? It was probably nasty, and you decided right then that vegetables were only meant to be used as a garnish for looks rather than actually consuming them (then you realized, they don't even look too pleasant either.) I don't blame you! Have you ever bitten into a tomato organically grown and plucked straight from the vine from which it had grown? Juicy, sweet, succulent, goodness. Naked. The way God intended it to be eaten.
I love food and cooking, and part of what has helped me realize my love of both is my deep seated fury about where the food industry has brought the American public, and how little knowledge is circulating about the sad condition our food is in. Between experiencing a string of certain health conditions recently, continually fighting the battle of the bulge since about my freshman year of highschool, and my undying love for food and cooking, I began the journey just a couple years ago trying to get to the bottom of what is in my food, how my body reacts to it, and what tastes actually bring me joy.
I am a photographer, wife to my air force pilot hubby Stephen Clark, foodie, follower of Christ, and kind of a nomad. I love love love to travel, to experience different ways of life, different tastes, smells and experiences with different people. As owner of Fingerprints Photography, I have been continually trying to keep up my photography blog to circulate my portrait work, but I've realized, though I love taking pictures and interacting with my clients, I'm not as passionate when it comes to writing about it. I am learning that something I am very passionate about, is food and travel. I haven't attempted to make it a career, as I have yet to find a well paying job including eating food, traveling, and taking pictures....but if you know of one, please tell me!!
So, in conclusion to this problem, I bring you my outlet, the Naked Tomato Blog. This blog is going to be filled with naturally beautiful pictures of food in their unadulterated state, scrumptious compilations of recipes I've tried and loved from all over, as well as tales and photographs of my travels and experiences in between those magical moments at the table, sharing a meal, a glass of wine, and many laughs with those I love.
Hello foodie, talented photographer, follower of Christ, wifey to a brilliant air force pilot, sister and friend! I love you and I love your new blog :) Looking forward to reading/seeing more! XO
